Hocket
Hocket! Thrilling, thoughtful traditional tunes and songs from
three composers and dynamic instrumentalists. Thomas Gold
(fiddle), Keith Harrison-Broninski (English concertina), and
Laurence Parnell (low whistle, guitar, vocals) take a fluid,
inventive, improvisatory approach to tunes and songs from
traditional sources and to their own compositions.
Thomas Gold’s compositions have been performed by groups
such as Lontano, BBC singers and the London Sinfonietta at
venues including the Wigmore Hall and the Aldeburgh
Festival. His love of folk music has led to study and
performance of the fiddle dialects that contribute towards
regional variety.
Keith Harrison-Broninski is a jazz pianist, traditional musician,
and composer who has released 9 albums and performs with
a wide range of musicians. His orchestral works have been
commissioned by the BBC, and performed at venues
including St. George’s Bristol and the Wiltshire Music Centre.
Laurence Parnell is a musician, singer, and composer, as well
as an actor and musical director for stage, screen, and radio.
As a luthier he makes handcrafted guitars and other stringed
instruments.
